The Superior Court has legal help available for people who do not have lawyers and are representing themselves in some areas of the law, including:
Family Court Services 
Family Court Services provides mediation for child custody and visitation disputes in Contra Costa County. Its objective is to give parents the opportunity to develop a plan for their children's care, ensuring close and continuing contact between children and parents after the parents separate and/or get a divorce.
Family Law Facilitators 
A family law facilitator is a lawyer with experience in family law who works for the court to help parents and children for free. The family law facilitator can give you educational materials that explain how to get a divorce, child custody, or domestic violence provention order,establish parentage (paternity); or get, change, or enforce child, spousal, or partner support orders.
The family law facilitator can also give you the court forms you need, help you fill out your forms,help you figure out support amounts, and refer you to your local child support agency, family court services, and other community agencies that help parents and children.
Free Legal Workshops and Clinics 
Contra Costa County Superior Court offers free legal workshops and clincs for family law, domestic violence restraining orders, guardianship, elder law and small claims cases.
Legal Self-Help Collection at Contra Costa Community College 
The Court partnered with Contra Costa Community College's Library to provide the local community with access to reference copies of self-help law books, some computerized legal forms, and a list of law and legal self-help websites.
Probate Facilitator

A Small Claims Legal Advisor gives free legal information about small claims cases. It does not matter how much money you make, and both sides can get help from the small claims legal advisor.
